What to Bring to Galiano Island: A Packing List

The Gulf Islands' Best Weather

What to take to Galiano Island, which has the mildest climate and most laid back lifestyle? We have attached a simple "What to Bring to Galiano Island" Packing List  It tells you what you need to bring ... and what you don't need to bring to relax at the Galiano Inn and to enjoy the island.

All of the southern Gulf Islands enjoy Mediterranean-style climates marked by sunny, dry summers, and mild, frost-free winters. Since it is the first island touched by the warm outflow of water from the BC mainland's Fraser River, Galiano residents have long claimed the best microclimate in the region. Summer highs are in the mid-20°C/70°f range with occasional hot spells in July and August. Spring and fall is ideal sweater weather. Visit the Galiano Weather site for uptodate information: our weather is "always" better than the mainland!

An All-season Vacation Destination

The island typically receives over 2,000 hours of sunshine annually. Precipitation in recent years has averaged about 650mm/25in per year, a result of the rain shadow of Vancouver Island and the Olympic Peninsula. It is the perfect vacation island, no matter what the season.

"We have it all"

Galiano Inn, and Galiano Island, has almost everything you need for a vacation. Mostly you need to bring personal items.

The Inn Spa suites are all fully equipped with everything from robes to candles; the One-bedroom Villa Suites have fully-equipped kitchens. Our Island has a fabulous bookstore, BC Wine & Beer shop (right in the Inn), three grocery stores (one is within walking distance), liquor stores, bicycle / moped / kayak rental. See the Packing List for details.
