Kunamokst
Kunamokst …. Meaning “together” in Chinook jargon
Together, some of the finest west coast artists are joining in a unique collaboration to create a legacy project titled "Kunamokst".
From communities all along the West Coast, artists will be creating an exciting mural to be permanently hung on Galiano Island. It will involve many artists from Galiano such as Kenna Fair, Keith Holmes, Annette Shaw, and many more, as well as artists from other coastal communities, including famous artists Robert Bateman and Roy Vickers, as well as muralist and painters Judith Baca and whale artist Wyland.
The Mural Mosaic designers have created a special image of coastal life, and Galiano artists have lead the creation of this special piece of art that is intended to bring Galiano artists, as well as coastal communities, closer together.
Olympic Unveiling!
The Mural will have a special unveiling during the Olympics in Vancouver on February 13, 2010. It will then be launched on Galiano Island this summer, at the Galiano Oceanfront Inn and Spa.

The Mural began with a small group of Galiano people and the Galiano Oceanfront Inn and Spa, both committed to working together to support the arts and honour our island community. It expanded to include the artistic coordination of the talented artists of Mural Mosaic, and evolved to embrace all of the West Coast …. artists from every community.
Each artist has created an individual piece of art depicting a special aspect of West Coast life. These pieces have been assembled to become a larger than life mural that represents a new west coast image, but none of the artists knows the part they are playing in the Mural Mosaic until its unveiling on February 13th as part of a special Olympic venue.
