Beginnings: The Mural was initiated by Conny Nordin of the Galiano Oceanfront Inn and Spa, and Kenna Fair, an artist on the Island. “Kunamokst”- Coastal Inspirations Mural Mosaic combines artists as young as 16 years old to artists over 90 years old.
Artists: Almost 200 artists from various regions along the coast, from Mexico to British Columbia: internationally renowned artists, French Canadian artists, Galiano artists like Tish Saunders, Keith Holmes. Kenna Fair; First Nations artists like critically acclaimed Roy Henry Vickers and April White, and iconic Canadian artist Robert Bateman. Many of the 190 artists have been featured on the world stage as well. Special guest artists include California world renowned whale muralist Wyland and California muralist Judy Baca.
Galiano Island: For the next few years, the mural will be enjoyed by visitors and residents alike, in its host location of the architecturally stunning Galiano Inn, created by owner, Mel Gibb.
Kunamokst, Chinook jargon for "Together", represents the best of West Coast artists ... within the magic of Mural Mosaic.

Art in Glass
Marcia De Vicque is an artist internationally renowned for her incredible warm glass works, encompassing fusion, casting, carving and painting techniques. In 2004 she established a studio and gallery on Galiano from which she creates rich and vivid work encompassing functional artwork for the home as well as gallery installation pieces. The lobby and entrance way of the Inn and each Oceanfront Spa Suite is graced with one of her flowing glass creations, presented on a light–flooded plinth.
Marcia De Vicque on her vision: “My glassworks draw together my changing life with the constancy of the seasons. The colours and forms of my heart reflect my connection to the natural order - forever seeking the harmony found in the blending of light and colour. For the last 6 years I have worked almost exclusively with kiln fired warm glass, fusing, slumping and casting the glass. Pieces are fired numerous times to achieve the desired effect. Each time I crack open the kiln I teeter on that wonderful abyss between fear and excitement – only different by one word,” Oh No!” or” Oh Boy!” - Marcia De Vicque
Art in Photographs
Tara Gill’s photographic work has garnered international awards and recognition; Tara currently divides her time between Galiano Island and San Francisco Bay.Nature provides the constancy and simplicity of pattern and form in the natural world. Tara’s recognition of nature’s wise and immutable orderliness informs and shapes her view of the world she inhabits. Galiano Island inspired Tara to become an artist and provided a safe and nurturing place in which to incubate her vision. Nature’s artistry, discovered here, pervades her work. The images she captures pay homage to her intimate connection with the natural world and the rural way of life.
Each Spa Suite at the Inn has a selection of fine art photography by this internationally known photographer, capturing the artist’s interpretations of the mood of the Galiano Inn and Spa: serenity, spa, renewal, energy, nature.

Brad Prevedoros plays with the passion of candlelight. His solo guitar technique and understated execution conjure-up magic. His recordings showcase his unique melding of jazz, Celtic-folk, pop, and classical influences.Prevedoros plays with intense abandon. Crystal-like, single note phrases pour from his fingers in an endless outpouring of improvisation. You can hear Charlie Byrd, Django Reinhardt and Miles Davis in his playing, and Bill Evans' intense lyricism and sophisticated harmonic conceptions too.
